Description

Limerigg to Linlithgow

Whilst I have videoed some of this route before I have never managed to complete it in brilliant sunshine. The first part of the ride is along the excellent National Cycle Route 75 (NCR75) that links Glasgow and Edinburgh. We start the ride just outside Caldercruix taking it all the way to Bathgate before turning North to get to Linlithgow. NCR75 is a purpose-built cycle and footpath, mostly on the flat. I've cycled it many times and never found it particularly busy. On leaving the path at Bathgate we head up into the Bathgate hills around Cairnpapple and Beecrags before dropping down into the lovely historic town of Linlithgow finishing just outside the infamous Black Bitch pub. There is a small pause bang in the middle of the ride where I was held up some traffic lights for a minute.
