At the end of January 2022, two tourists lit a fire in the mountains above Indemini. This despite the ban on lighting fires outdoors considering that the woods and meadows were dry due to the long period of drought. The flames fueled by the strong wind spread rapidly affecting numerous hectares of wood.
As a precaution, all the inhabitants were evacuated from their homes. For several days the firefighters worked, assisted by helicopters and Italian Canadair, to be able to tame the flames, which have come dangerously close to the towns and homes.
