Caldercruix to Avonbridge
Most times when I'm out cycling I have a definite route that I want to follow and also have a rough idea of which sections of that I want to video for potential upload to Kinomap. This is one occasion when I deviated from that modus operandi. I got to this T junction and my Garmin was telling me to go left but I went right!
It added a few kilometres to the original planned route but I discovered a new quiet country road with some lovely climbs and some fantastic views over the city of Glasgow.
From Caldercruix the route initially heads West before turning South and heading towards Kirk o' Shotts with its huge TV and radio broadcasting station and masts. Note that there is a brief section on this road when I thought I saw something untoward lying in the ditch at the roadside and doubled back to investigate. As it's only around 30mtrs I just left this in.
From there we then head East heading towards Harthill which is a small village in North Lanarkshire but most people locally will know it as the main and only service station on the M8 motorway between Edinburgh and Glasgow which we cross over a couple of times before heading North towards the villages of Blackridge and Avonbridge where the ride finishes.
Having just watched the video back again I've got to say the cloud formations on that day were amazing!
