Description

The Marin County Civic Center, in San Rafael, California, is a beautiful and controversial public building designed by Frank Lloyd Wright completed in 1962 after Wright's death. Other buildings in the area were completed in a similar style in the following decade. The Civic Center was used for scenes in the 1997 film "Gattaca." This video tours the grounds of the Civic Center and the surrounding neighborhood. In the opinion of this resident, the building looks nice, but is impractical and very expensive to maintain, as an early example of the awful "starchitect" trend. YMMV.
