Žumberak is a very remote, hilly, forest area at the Croatian-Slovenian border, with thousands of years long history. Into village Doljani - one of the most remote ones - my grand grandfather brought Italian workers - probably in the 1890-ies - to build an Italian style house (of a kind rarely seen in the region) where my beloved grandmother (mother's side) was born on 1898-12-21. Let's take a closer look!
