Step into the heart of Slovenian cycling with this immersive ride through the Pokal Kamnika (Kamnik Cup) race in reverse order. The POGI CUP stage features a technical 4.8 km circular course in Tunjice near Kamnik, combining scenic beauty with tactical demands. This video captures one lap of the Tunjice–Tunjice loop and continues uphill towards Saint Anna Church and Zdravilni Gaj Tunjice (Natural healing resort Tunjice). On the ridge above the village of Tunjice, with the spectacular backdrop of the Grintovec Mountains in the Kamnik Mountains, the Baroque beauty, the pilgrimage church of St. Ana, an icon of the Slovenian Baroque, looks far and wide. The church is dedicated to St Anne, who has been recommended for centuries, especially by girls and wives, with intercessions for fertility and the blessing of families. The pilgrimage route is still very popular today, especially on the feast of St Anne, 26 July. The original church was Gothic with one bell tower and the walls of an anti-Turkish camp. Over time, the large number of pilgrims made it too small, so it was demolished and replaced by today’s Baroque beauty with two towers and a domed nave. The construction of the church was led and financed by the parish priest of Komenda, Peter Pavel Glavar. The church is modelled on the Cathedral of St. Než in Rome. In addition to craftsmen from Mengeš and Kamnik, more than 100 Prussian prisoners of war took part in the construction. In order to build such a large church, the hill had to be lowered by 3 metres. During the construction, Peter Pavel Glavar placed relics of the holy martyrs Jukundin and Columbanus, brought from Rome, among the corner stones. In 1796, relics of St Peregrine were brought from Rome. From Komenda, 14 girls aged 14 carried the relics. It is interesting to compare that St Peregrine was tortured and killed when she was also 14 years old. The village of Tunjice is an idyllic village lying on the Slovenian Alps' foothills, close to the town of Kamnik. Millions of years ago the sea has been spread over now so wonderful woodland. Thus, the province is famous for its fossils, sanded marls and high-grade limestone formed in far Miocene. The Natural Healing Resort is placed on the Northeast side of Kamnik city in a large dense forest nearby the picturesque baroque church of St. Ana. Within a range of 10.000 square meters of slowly inclining piece of land is a spa with healing water and several energy springs, marked with circles and ideograms of different shapes. In spring 1998 the exceptional energy of the resort was coincidentally discovered by the owner of the property. On lawns while he was excavating building-sand on a plot of land he owns. Mister Drago Vrhovnik felt tingling over his entire body. A few days later he discovered a spring of living water in which he bath his long time ago wounded arm. Within a couple of weeks the arm was completely healed. In search for reasonable explanation he was put in touch with a group of individuals sensitive to a subtle energy. Detailed researches located this piece of land as one of the strongest energy source with positive impact on a human being.
