Carron Valley to Kilsyth
This ride probably has everything I love when cycling in my local area. It has quiet single-track country roads through some gorgeous countryside and some interesting wildlife. It has some challenging uphill sections but every uphill is then followed with a fast smooth downhill. And to top it all it was filmed on a lovely sunny morning - such a rarity.
There are three main climbs. The first takes us from the West end of the Carron Valley over Shielbrae (350m) heading towards Stirling. After that downhill, the second climb takes us South passing North Third reservoir before arriving at the East end of the Carron reservoir (without ever having seen it) before taking the final climb to the top of the Tak Ma Doon (327m) road with a super-fast descent into the town of Kilsyth.
