Bodental Valley 🚶

They say that Bodental Valley, situated on the Austrian side of the Karawanks, at an altitude of about 1000m, has one of the most beautiful valley closures of the huge Alpine region in Central Europe. Exaggeration? Let's see...!

Start from the so called Fairytale Meadow (German: Märchenwiese), just under the vertical cliffs of the Karawanks and head northward, past pastures and into the forest. After a few moments of disorientation at the middle of the walk follow me downhill again, to the so called Sea Eye (German: Meerauge; Slovene: Jezerce, meaning Little lake). It is a Kettlehole, formed by retreating glacier ice. Finish with a view of the southern valley closure. And after the cam was switched off: We had a great meal in a wonderful atmosphere at a nearby gasthaus (see here on FB), where you can communicate in German, Slovene, Croatian and what-not... [Recorded on 2023-09-01]
