Volterraio Castle is the oldest fortification on the entire island of Elba. The Volterraio fortress, also known as the Volterraio castle, is a coastal fortification located in the municipality of Portoferraio, on the island of Elba, at an altitude of 394 m.
Volterraio Castle is visible from almost every point on the island and even from the ferry arriving in Portoferraio.
