Hidden among the trees, there is a scenic rock that for years, like a book from pages of stone, collects the words and thoughts of young lovers, and more. The "sasso", despite offering a breathtaking view of Lake Ceresio and a romantic isolation, is unknown even to the Ticino people, with the exception of the inhabitants of the area and the young people who come to spend moments of tenderness, passion, reflection, or simply to be in company.
Stone of words? But what words? Words that have been passing by for decades and then vanish over time: this is its charm.
It is said that in 1964, due to a disappointment in love, a man decided to jump into the cliff below. The protagonist of the story was a patient of the then sanatorium of Agra, closed in 1969 and converted in 2013 into the Collina d'Oro Resort.
Several guests of the clinic came to the "Sasso delle parole" for a panoramic walk and some left their initials written. Let's imagine the sense of freedom they could feel as they took their last steps among the rocks, surprised by a sudden widening of spaces.
The story goes that a handful of years earlier some coded messages were also left behind. A well-founded thesis or an idea fueled by the suspicion that the sanatorium, since its construction in 1914, was a den of German spies.
