描述
The Ringvaart in Ghent is a 21.6 km long canal that circles the Belgian city of Ghent and connects all waterways that pass through this city.
Ghent has always sought a connection with the sea and the current and shortest connection is the Ghent-Terneuzen Canal. That canal was dug at the beginning of the 19th century and has been modernized several times since then. It is 32 km long, of which 17 km is on Flemish territory and runs to the lock complex in Terneuzen in the Netherlands, Zeeland. There it flows into the Western Scheldt, which in turn is connected to the North Sea.
