Gelston to Dalbeattie

Hot on the heels of my weeks holiday on the Isle of Harris I then took a week-long break based in the lovely rural town of Dalbeattie In Dumfriesshire.  Dalbeattie is well known for having some fantastic mountain bike trails - many accessible from the town itself - but I chose to take my road bike and had some fabulous rides in some gorgeous sunny weather. 

This ride starts just outside the small village of Gelston in Kirkcudbrightshire before continuing through the town of Castle Douglas before a circular route along the banks of Loch Ken.  The roads there are quiet with some gorgeous scenery and wildlife. When I got to the crossroads at Crossmichael I took a wrong turning but quickly realised my mistake before doing a u-turn and continuing on through Old Bridge of Urr and then South to the finish at Dalbeattie.

I had planned to do one video starting and finishing in Dalbeattie. But a combination of traffic lights; GoPro malfunctions and me getting lost meant I had to split it up. If you want to do the preceding part of the is ride it's here - Dalbeattie to Gelston .
