The Linear Trail is a smooth gravel path that travels around the southern half of if Manhattan, Kansas. Much if it is on the top of a dike that protects the city from the Kansas River. Manhattan's nickname is "The Little Apple," and is home to Kansas State University (Wildcats) and Fort Riley, which is home to the US Army's First Infantry Division (The Big Red One).
