Grangemouth to Polmont

I had planned a gentle cycle from Grangemouth to Linlithgow to then take the Forth and Clyde canal back to Falkirk however just outside Linlithgow I came across a closed towpath for some maintenance work. From there I had to take the main roads with some climbs but then what goes up must come down so you can enjoy some fast downhill towards the end.

The initial route is following National Cycle Route 76 but just before Bo'ness that is closed just now for some repair work following some serious,flooding. From there we take the quiet roads over the gentle hills and farm lands to Linlithgow before climbing again to get to the Forth and Clyde canal. We have to leave that path after a couple of kilometres, again due to road works - I did initially think there was a way around road works, so apologies for the little circular ride in the middle. Finally, we climb towards Torphichen before heading North and downhill back to the ride's starting point just outside Polmont.
