This is a complete long ride looping around the Pentland Hills, south west of Edinburgh. Once out of the city, the roads are very quiet, although the surface of some could be improved. The eastern side is mainly flat or uphill and the western side is mainly flat or downhill, with the occassional short steep uphill on east and west halves. Some off road, including one towards the end, where I came off my bike trying to avoid pedestrians and some workmen. A bit embarrassing and rather painful, resulting in bruised ribs. My speed reduced somewhat after that!. Glorious Scottish weather; make the most of it!
