Hike around Sigiriya Rock ☀️🇱🇰🪨🐘🐒🥾

You've just come from Pidurangala Rock & still haven't had enough? Then let's continue from its foot and take a tour around Sigiriya Rock 🪨 - one of the top tourist highlights in Sri Lanka 🇱🇰. This is where the patricide and king Kashyapa I of Anuradhapura 👑 built himself a fortress with the legendary cloud girl frescoes. On the way through the beautiful park around this fortress there are not only wild monkeys 🐒, deer and dogs, but also crocodiles 🐊. If you have an incredibly good eye, you can even spot one in the water between the water lilies on the left. But you will certainly be able to see the elephant 🐘, no matter how many dioptres you have. It's great to experience such a gigantic animal so close up, but unfortunately we would like to point out that these animals are suffering a lot there. Constantly chained up, they are scarred, suffer from the hard work as a riding attraction for tourists or hauling wood and are pecked with the so-called Ankus by their "keeper" (mahout) if they disobey. We don't want to condemn anyone by this, but at least briefly point it out in this context. So now back to our workout - have fun on this particularly animal-rich hike 🐘🐒🐊!
