Marko's Towers was the last stronghold of Prince Marko (Slovene: Kraljevič Marko, Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian/Montenegrin: Kraljević Marko, Macedonian: Kрaле Марко, Bulgarian: Крали Марко) - a complex historic, legendary and epic figure of the 14th century, even nowadays still well known to South Slavs from the Adriatic coast to the Black sea.

The question, in all epochs: Is it "Bolje grob, nego rob" (approx. Better dead, than slave), or is it "Bolje rob, nego grob" (approx. Better slave, than dead). Or is this a wrong question? A deal should always be possible - it is all about compromises in difficult times...
