The Class 2 cycling route #19 in Czechia with its 236 km in length follows the Sazava river from near its source in the heart of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands to its confluence with the Vltava river just south of Prague. The abbreviation "n. S." in the names of the little towns along the way refers to "nad Sazavou", an equivalent of "-on-", "am" or "sur". However, expect no pancake-flat cruising along the river; the route often goes to the hills north and south of the river and rather sticks to the literal meaning of "nad Sazavou" — (sometimes well) above the river level.
