The Nevada City Classic, one of the most historic and challenging professional cycling races in the US, is held downtown Nevada City, California. Established in 1960, the Nevada City Classic commonly occurs on Father's Day and brings in thousands of visitors to Nevada County. Greg Lemond won the Nevada City Bicycle Classic three times (1979-81) before going on to conquer the cycling world at the Tour de France. Lance Armstrong won the race in 2009.
