Start at Avenue Twins then take the ridge east towards Black Mountain, before the big ascent, turn around and follow the ridge west. Descend to an overlook view of the beginning of City Creek Canyon. This ridgeline caps the northern edge of Salt Lake City. This ridge forms part of the course of the Wasatch Steeplechase course (16mi, ~4000 ft gain). Starting at downtown, climb the ridge, then up black mountain. Then descend the backside of black mountain and take city creek canyon back to the start.
This trail represents most of the first third of the Whasatch Steeplechase (25K) race that is held every June.
