Description

WARNING: Read First. There are 3 sections that were not rideable because how deep and soft the rock layer was. I am WALKING these sections. If you are looking for a video to give you a serious workout and not interested in discovering the old Gold mining era Dredge Fields, you might not like this video.

This is the Yuba Goldfields, also known as the Hammonton dredge field, and it is the largest gold dredge field in California. Look at the satellite view in Google Maps and zoom in. You will see that this is all made of a mix of sediments from hydraulic mining and tailings left after the river bed has been dredged out during the early 1900's. This area is now partially used for motorized recreation vehicles, mostly dirt bikes.

I am attempting a mountain bike ride to show my Kinomap friends around, but it was very difficult to ride there without a motor. Not many people have seen or even know about this area. I hope that you find it an interesting discovery! Again, make sure that you look at the satellite view in Google Maps and zoom in. It is very unique.

The orange flowers on the sides of the trails are the California poppies, the California State flower.
