This loop around Almaden Valley includes the Steep climb on Hicks Road South side from Alamitos Rd to Umunhum Rd. Watch for the "No Trespassing" signs on Herbert Creek Road. I ignored them as I don't think they are legal. Some people like to put such signs on small back roads just because they don't like people...
Warning: Hicks road is famous in the bay area because of its steepness.
