Tamfourhill to California
There are many Scottish place names that are replicated across the globe as Scots migrated throughout the last few centuries however it is likely that the finishing point of this ride - California - was named after the US state. Legend has it because black gold (coal) was found there in the mod 18th century. This ride takes you from a suburb of my home town called Tamfourhill through a mixture of off-road, mountain bike style paths, through other forest tracks and then the main roads to the tiny village of California. California sits to the South of Falkirk and at a higher elevation so this ride does involve some climbing throughout the ride although any steep sections are not to any length.
