From the Catona seafront (Reggio Calabria) you climb along a green valley full of citrus groves (Catona river valley). You cross some towns (Fiumara and San Roberto) and arrive at the bridge which marks the beginning of the Acquacalda climb. The route does not present particular difficulties on a splendid early summer day.
