Classic ride for the locals. Pass through Sumner (good place to stop for a cofee). Then head up to Mt Pleasant. The first section gets a bit steep so take care not to push to hard as there is still a lot of uphill to go.
The ride contines round the port hills but the road is closed to cars for a section due to road damage after the 2011 earthquake.
