Marktstraße 17, 69168 Wiesloch, Germany
Friedrich-Hecker-Straße 3, 74918 Angelbachtal, Germany
In 1888, while Carl was away, Bertha Benz borrowed her husband's invention and got as far as Wiesloch before running out of fuel. She filled up with alcohol at the local chemists (Apotheke), which you can see right at the beginning of the ride. This is now a private museum, open only on special occasions like the Christmas Market.
The video is a hommage to soon-to-be bygone technologies. Note the small monument to the railway line, removed for housing (12:25.)
Interestingly, this chemists had been owned 20 years prior to Bertha's visit by Philipp Johann Bronner, a pioneer of modern wine horticulture. The first bridge you pass over (5:00) is named after him, and for the next few minutes you'll cycle through vinyards which are still very active.
Minute 25:00 is where my huvding exploded out of the blue nearly breaking my back 😡 . Hence my avatar.
Who will be the first to spot the deer?
Who will be the first to reach the destination in half my time?
