Hi KinoMap Family!
I hope everyone's having a great week!
As many of you know stretching is an important part of my routine. I talk about it often as well as the importance of not skipping it in order to avoid injury, etc.
In this video I've incorporated some stretches from Runner's World Magazine as well as a 5 Minute Walk.
Dynamic Stretches incorporated in the video:
1- Side Lunge
2- Modified Single-Leg Dead Lift
3 - Straight-Leg Lateral Swing
4- Bent-Knee Lateral Swing
5- Bent- Knee Forward Swing
Before working out out we should incorporate Dynamic stretches ("flowey" type movements) and Static Stretches (the stretches that we hold in place for 30 seconds or more) at the end of a workout.
When explaining stretching I like to compare our bodies to a strand of uncooked spaghetti. Prior to being warmed up/"cooked" if we move the strand too much it will definitely snap...once it's warmed up/cooked we can do various moves without issues.
When we consistently workout without dynamic stretching first we can cause injury over time.
The following article talks about this topic in depth: https://www.openfit.com/dynamic-vs-static-stretching-warm-up-exercises
Remember when starting any fitness routine/program to consult with your doctor especially if the routine is very different from what you're used to.
