Central Europe (mostly Croatia, Slovenia and Austria) was hit by a long lasting heavy rain during the first week of August 2023. There were even death casualties in Slovenia. Here is how it looked like on 2023-08-05 in the Austrian town of Leoben, along the river Mur. Two weeks earlier the river looked quite different - compare the two situations:
