Beschrijving

The Forra del Cellina Nature Reserve covers about 300 hectares distributed between the Municipalities of Andreis, Barcis and Montereale Valcellina and is managed by the Friulian Dolomites Park. The importance of the Reserve is mainly given by the geomorphological aspects: we are in fact in the presence of a real gorge dug into the calcareous sediments, with the constant presence of water, waterfalls and suggestive forms of erosion. The appearance is typical of a large canyon, the largest in the region and certainly one of the most spectacular in Italy. There are also interesting botanical rarities, determined by the particular micro-climatic conditions.
