THE SWEDISH TREASURE CHEST
For at least 500 years minerals were dug out of and extracted from the Sala Silvermine. For the larger part of those centuries the main focus was to refine the desirable silver,
which should be used by the Crown for the national coin minting. But also lead and zink has been excavated historically - and dolomite mining is still going on in the surroundings.
