2021 has been a bad year in terms of wildfires in California. The Bridge fire started September 5th, 2021 near the famous Foresthill bridge. It burned through 411 acres in an area known for great mountain biking trails, most of them built and maintained by FATRAC.
2 weeks after the fire was finally contained, I am taking you on a ride on Culvert Trail, through the fire area. It is quite impressive with all the vegetation burned by the fire and the trail damage from the fire fighting equipment, particularly the bulldozers used to create fire breaks and containment lines.
Starting at the Foresthill Bridge, you will ride up Clementine Trail to Lake Clementine Road (paved road) and then to Fuel Break Trail. You will then ride down Culvert Trail, and continue down on Confluence Trail, along Middle Fork American River, all the way back to the Foresthill Bridge. Some exposed sections on Confluence trail with fantastic views of the canyon and the river down below.
