Starting from Spittal an der Drau, we join the Alpe Adria Cycle path and cross the river Lieser on an impressive iron railway bridge. On the route to Villach, the Alpe Adria Cycle path shares the exact route of the R1 Drauradweg cycle path. The Drau now accompanies us the whole way to Villach through some stunning villages, beautiful scenery and affording plenty of places to stop and grab refreshments, when needed. We cross the river using a cycle path built over a stately Dam at Patendorf. The panoramic views along the Drau are simply stunning. There is so much to look at and admire. Once again, we cross the river and end the ride upon arrival into the beautiful Carinthian city of Villach.
