A springtime road cycling tour in the cycling paradise Lavanttal (Lavant Valley). Located south of the alps, Lavanttal is a lovely sunny valley, nestled between the Koralpe and Saualpe Mountains. The river Lavant winds its way down from its source on the slopes of the Zirbitzkogel, through pretty towns and villages before joining the Drau at Lavamünd. This scenic road cycling ride begins in Lavamünd and takes you along the B80 before joining the Lavantradweg (Lavant River Cycle Path). We leave the cycle path at Sankt Paul, then ascend through Maria Rojach to our final destination Gemmersdorf, a small village located at the foot of the Koralpe. This section offers fantastic views of the Koralpe mountain, still snow covered from about the 1500 metre mark. The finishing point is the Schaumühle Gemmersdorf (Show Mill). It is a fully functioning hydro powered show mill that can be visited for demonstration by appointment through the summer months.
