Description

El Castellot to Coll de sa Bataia

I was on holiday on the beautiful island of Mallorca in Spain and wanted to cycle some of the hills to maintain my fitness levels.  Cycling in Mallorca is heaven. Most of the time the weather is glorious, the roads are super smooth and the other road users and motorists are incredibly courteous to cyclists - I think to some extent that's because they realise the value cycling tourism has to the island.

This is 14kms of uphill including the climb to the Coll de Femenia which is a category two climb with an average incline of 6% although there are some sections that are 8-9%. I'm not the fastest hill climber so you'll quite easily beat my time on Kinomap - keep the resistance at 100%, no cheating now! 😁  This video has a short 20s break at around 47 minutes when I mistimed my gear change trying to catch two other cyclists and threw the chain.  I didn't edit it out. 😒

I was staying in Pollença so this road was travelled many times over my stay to get to the other great Mollarcan cycling roads - it's also the route all the cyclists staying in the North of the island take to get to Sa Calobra (which I've never cycled). This short section, therefore, features in a number of my other Mallorcan videos - both up and down hill.  Please check out my other Mallorca videos here -> Mallorca playlist

The bike I used for these rides is a beautifully light stainless steel bike made by Independent Fabrication and on hire from n+1 Bicycles in Pollenca.
