Description

Around the River Isla

Just back from a lovely week's holiday in Blairgowrie in Perthshire Scotland. I did a couple of cycle rides whilst I was there and both of these were in the county to the North of Perthshire - Angus. This ride is a circular route that takes you around the River Isla through some beautiful countryside. The first 8kms or so are quite challenging with some long inclines but then of course you have the joy of some fast downhill after that.

I was struck by the devastation that Storm Arwen had wreaked across the region with huge swathes of forests and woods flattened. Nowhere is that more visible than when you pass through Brewlands at the most Northerly part of the route. After that, we cross the river and then head South again through some more gorgeous countryside before heading alongside Lintrathen Reservoir and returning to our starting point.
