Description

Explore the hidden hills in the heart of Seoul with this 1.5-hour-long bike ride covering 35 kilometers and 723 meters of elevation. The route begins in Gwanghwamun square, in front of the Gyeongbokgung palace, and climbs on the quiet Inwang hill. After a short descent, the route follows the famous Bugak Skyway and heads to the touristy neighborhood of Samcheong-dong, passing via two road climbs that average a gradient of 12%. Finally, the route climbs back onto the top of Bugak from the east side of the hill and descends back to Gwanghwamun square.
Bugak-san is a 342-meter-high mountain located in downtown Seoul. The road that crosses the hill, also known as Bugak Skyway, is immersed in a thick urban forest. Along the ridge of the mountain, there are the Hanyang city wall and a few military bases. On the top, there is a pavilion that serves as a viewpoint and resting area. On weekends the area becomes crowded with hikers and cyclists. The Strava segment for the Skyway is probably the most coveted KOM in Korea.
