Dalbeattie to Caulkerbush

Hot on the heels of my weeks holiday on the Isle of Harris I then took a week-long break based in the lovely rural town of Dalbeattie In Dumfriesshire. Dalbeattie is well known for having some fantastic mountain bike trails - many accessible from the town itself - but I chose to take my road bike and had some fabulous rides in some gorgeous sunny weather (although not present for much of this ride!).

This ride is in two parts taking in the lovely Solway Coast route that for me starts and finishes in Dalbeattie. This is the first part of the ride that takes you from Dalbeattie down to the coast via Colvend, Rockcliff and Sandhills before it heads back inland at Caulkerbush. The ride features some very quiet country roads and some gorgeous scenery.
