The Cowboy Trail in Nebraska is a 321-mile rails-to-trails project that runs from Norfolk to Chadron. This multi-use trail follows a former Chicago and North Western Railway corridor and features a 195-mile crushed limestone path currently open from Norfolk to Valentine, with the full westward extension to Chadron planned. It is suitable for biking, hiking, and horseback riding, and is known for its significant wooden bridges, including a quarter-mile-long trestle over the Niobrara River near Valentine, and scenic views of nature and the Sandhills.
