Description

Killin to Callander

This is the reverse route (almost, it's slightly shorter because I missed out the Balquidder loop) of this video. Callander to Killin is, for the most part, climbing as you get further into the Scottish Highlands. The return journey, apart from the first few kilometres, is therefore mostly downhill, with some spectacular scenery on what was a glorious sunny day.

As before the ride covers a wide variety of tracks, varying from wide tarmac roads, through gravel roads, to narrow MTB tracks but all passing some of the most gorgeous scenery in Scotland.  The ride starts on the outskirts of the lovely town of Killin, beside the Falls of Dochart and finishes in the town of Callander - quite often called the Gateway to the Highlands. The route follows the longer Sustrans National Cycle Route 7. There is more information on this here.  If 35km is too long for you I will publish some shorter cuts from this video for you to try.

There are two brief pauses of a few seconds in this video. The first to take in the beautiful view up the glen to Loch Earn and the second whilst I have an argument with a truck driver who considered I didn't stop quickly enough or pull off the road far enough for him - You can judge!
