Description

Ride from Auburn, California to the Foresthill Bridge and back. Some good elevation changes for a good workout in Gold Country.

With a height of 730 feet (223 m), the Foresthill bridge is the tallest bridge in California and 61st tallest in the World. Part of an abandoned hydraulic project that planned to transform the beautiful American River Canyon into a lake, it is now a great feature of the recreation area below and part of very popular cycling routes, including the Amgen Tour of California bicycle race. Stay tuned for future videos shot from under the bridge.

The bridge is popular with movie makers and can be seen in the beginning of the action movie "xXx: in which Vin Diesel's character Xander Cage is seen driving a stolen red Chevrolet Corvette off of it, then jumping from the car mid-flight and parachuting to his accomplices at the bottom of the American River Canyon.
